Looking down on someone going about their day — unhurried, unbothered — turns the ordinary into a kind of portrait. The yellow shirt against grey stone did the rest.

Captured on 35mm film from above a pedestrian path in Japan.

No one posed. No one noticed. Just a person mid-stride on a route they'd probably walked a thousand times, framed from above by a geometry of pavement and shadow. The kind of scene that disappears the moment you stop paying attention.

This image remains unaltered from its original exposure. No colour correction, no cropping, no refinement. What existed in that moment is what remains here. Grain, imperfection, and all.
