About Us

Still Archives exists to preserve moments as they were.

We’re surrounded by images that can be generated, revised, and repeated endlessly.

Moments that actually happened are easy to miss.

Still Archives is built around a simple idea. Each image begins as a single exposure on 35mm film. No preview. No retake. What’s captured is what remains.

Grain, blur, and imbalance aren’t flaws. They’re evidence that the moment was real.

We don’t correct what happened.
We don’t refine what existed

We keep what was there.

As art, these images become an object that's a quiet reminder to come back to the moment you’re in.

Not perfection, presence. Life is grainy, unbalanced, and moving.

That’s the point. Embrace the fact that life is continual.

Let us help you look for ways to see your daily practice differently.

Where the archive began

Still Archives is a project shared by two friends, Max and Blake.

We've both carried creative practices alongside the rest of life for as long as we can remember. Over time, those practices changed shape, shaped by new places, new responsibilities, and the realities of adult life.

Photography didn’t disappear, it just became quieter.

Film, in particular, remained something we returned to without pressure or expectation. A way of paying attention, rather than producing outcomes.

During the summer of 2025, a forgotten film photograph resurfaced. One of those still moments you don’t realise matters until time has passed.

It wasn’t perfect. But it was real.

That moment became the catalyst for revisiting a growing collection of 35mm frames that had been sitting, unseen, on hard drives and in folders. Still Archives exists to bring those moments into the world, intact.

What this project supports

Still Archives is designed to move slowly and deliberately. It exists to fund time spent paying attention, travelling, exploring, and being present with the people that matter most.

Each November, a portion of annual profits is donated to Movember in support of men’s mental health.

Our invitation to you

Still Archives is for those who value attention over perfection.

These works aren’t made to impress.
They’re made to live with.

If that resonates with you, you'll know, because you've made it this far.
